Love Does

Yesterday. It was 12:35 in the afternoon. I had a hair appointment to get to by 1:00, and I needed to grab lunch before I headed over to see my hair stylist. I ran through the list in my head of possible quick picks: Chick-fil-A? Arby's? Zaxby's?
Chick-fil-A!! Should it even be a question?

 1) I love chicken.
2) I love Chick-fil-A sauce.
3) I love sweet tea.
4) I love my Calendar Card.
5) I love Chick-fil-A

I was nervous about getting to my hair appointment on time, but I had faith in the quickness of Carrollton's Chick-fil-A. They have never let me down before. By the time I placed my order with the lady outside the Drive Thru, paid for my meal to the kind man at the register, and picked up my order from the gentleman outside the window, I think maybe three minutes had passed by. It was not the speedy service I received that made my heart happy, but that I felt so appreciated and cared about by the three people I came in contact with during my lunch break.

I feel this verse is appropriate for my message today. Each person I came in contact with during my lunch adventure was smiling, happy to be serving others, respectful to me in our conversations, and a blessing to have in my day. I was delighted  pulling out of the parking lot, not only because I had a delicious lunch in my hands, but because every action those workers were doing they did in love.

How many times do you catch yourself doing something for someone else just simply to be doing it?

"And he answered, 'You shall love the Lord your God with all your heart and with all your soul and with all your strength and with all your mind, and your neighbor as yourself." Luke 10:27

In the words of my mother, "treat others the way you want to be treated." I cannot tell you how many times I was told this growing up. God tells us we should love him unconditionally with all of our being, but that we should also love others as we love ourselves. So I have a challenge for not only whoever may be reading my blog but for myself as well. Take the time out of your day to do a random act of kindness. It can be opening a door for someone, saying good morning to a person you usually wouldn't speak to, or giving a compliment to a stranger. Express your love through your words and actions. You never know the people you may come in contact with or the way you can change someone's entire day by a simple gesture. As you go throughout your weekend, love others as God loves us, but more importantly, "Let all that you do be done in love."

With Love & Laughter,
Alison
