My Person
"A friend will be a friend in times of all kinds." Proverbs 17:17
I have thoroughly been enjoying my short Spring Break (#CollegeAthleteProbz) here at home with my parents. While my friends traveled to the beach, I drove home for a few days to spend time with the ones who love me the most. I adore my family, and I am thankful for any opportunity I get to be around them. College has reminded me of how family-oriented I am, but it has also given me the ability to recognize the meaning behind true friendship. My inspiration behind this post began long ago when I met my best friend. She has stuck by me these last eleven years, and I am more than thankful for her and her family.

9 & 10 Years Old. 10u All-Stars. Summertime. I met my best friend that summer. |
I like to say I have a handful of best friends, but Jessi is special. We never went to the same school growing up, but that never stopped us or our friendship. I've never met someone with such a caring heart, and I can tell you from personal experience she gets it from her parents. There are many nights she has picked up the phone at midnight or later to listen to me cry about nonsense. She has supported me in everything and anything I have ever set my heart on. She was at my Senior Night for softball. She came to take pictures with me at both of my Proms. She watched me walk at Graduation. She shared my Senior Trip with me and both of our families. She has visited me at college. She has been apart of the highest points in my life and the lowest of the lows.
When it came time for us to decide on college, we both knew we would be going in different directions. Here we are entering our Junior year of college, and she is at UGA while I am at LaGrange. Sometimes we don't speak for a few days, or we'll exchange a small conversation about something we just can't live without telling one another. Some days we know what is going on with each other based on Facebook statuses or Instagram pictures. Our lives can be so different at times, but we understand one another so well that it makes things work.
I felt the need to post about my best friend today simply because I sincerely hope everyone out there has the opportunity to make unbreakable friendships like the ones I have. I hear research says if you are friends with someone for more than seven years then you are bound to be friends with them for the rest of your life. I hope this is true, and even if it isn't I am pretty sure Jessi is meant to be "my person" for the rest of my life.
Thank you for being my best friend. Thank you for sharing your family and friends with me. Thank you for answering my calls regardless the time of day or night. Thank you for watching scary movies with me and loving to hate them. Thank you for sharing your Lazy Donkey addiction. Thank you for being apart of all the embarrassing moments in my life and laughing through them alongside me. Thank you for your advice and words of wisdom. Thank you for your honesty, even if at times I was not willing to accept it. Thank you for being my best friend regardless of the distance. Thank you for being an amazing woman of God, who shares her beauty from the inside out. For all the years you have been there and the years in advance, thank you.
With Love & Laughter,
Alison
