Oh, You're Beautiful

Being an Aunt can be so inspiring. This sweet boy has been in my life since December, and he has already taught me so much about life and myself. My mother sent me this picture the other morning. I had an early start to my day, and anyone who knows me knows I am not exactly who you would call a morning person. This picture just put a smile on my face and a thought in my head.

"It is not fancy hair, gold jewelry, or fine clothes that should make you beautiful. No, your beauty should come from within you--the beauty of a gentle and quiet spirit. This beauty will never disappear and it is worth very much to God." 1 Peter 3:3-4

I love what this picture represents. He obviously has just woken up from a good sleep, and those bags under his precious eyes tell a beautiful story. The ruffle in his hair makes me giggle, and the bubbles he is blowing from his mouth reminds me of how silly he can be. Connor is a reminder to me of just how beautiful our God is and how amazing his creations are. This picture is one of the cutest I have of him, and its my favorite because this is him as God created him. We put such an emphasis on staying with the current trends and following the crowd instead of leaning on our own morals and values. This is him before society gets to throw their thoughts and opinions his way and allow the outlet malls to take over his sense of style. He is a blank canvas waiting to be painted on by the hands of a mighty Savior.

This sweet baby reminds me of how beautiful people are...the innocence we are born with and the endless opportunities we have at our fingertips. He reminds me to laugh even when I don't feel like it. I see such beauty in Connor, and he serves as a mental note to look in the mirror every morning and see the goodness in each day. Even during the lowest of times, God still finds the beauty in what we ignore to see in ourselves. I hope this week you can find the beauty you were born with.

With Love & Laughter,
Alison
