"My Cup Runneth Over..."

There will always be a reason why you meet people. Either you need them to change your life or you're the one that will change theirs.

As these last three weeks of school slowly roll by, I thought I would reminisce on my last two years here at LaGrange. While they have been full of loads of laughter, happy smiles, random mental breakdowns, and nights of tears, I wouldn't have made it through these last two years without the people God sent to me when I began this fun but anxious journey. I have met some of the most amazing people, and I know in the years to come they will still remain as big of a part in my heart as they do now.

First Day of Sophomore Year
Homecoming 2K14
Denney has been more than a roommate, but one of my best friends since I was five years old. We started school together in Pre-K, and I am lucky to say I had one of my best friends come to college with me. She listens to my five minute rants most nights when I just don't think I can make it to the next day. She shares Dairy Queen dates or Taco Bell runs with me no matter what time of the day or night. She cries with me when we have absolutely no idea what is going on in class, but we know that we can cry together and everything will be okay. More importantly she has played a huge role in my walk with Christ, especially since we became so close during our junior year of high school. Her love for Jesus shines through her beautiful smile, loving personality and caring soul. College just wouldn't be the same without her.

These beauties, two of which are my
roommates, have made my days of being a college athlete as fun as my memories of playing high school ball. Denney and I are so lucky to have met such loving friends during our first few weeks in college. We have grown so much throughout our last two years and experienced it all together. They each have their own special qualities, and I wouldn't trade everything we have been through for anything. Words cannot explain how meaningful their friendship is, but I can only pray that others have the ability to form friendships like the ones I have made in college.

From high school rivals to college best friends, I cannot believe I ever survived without Lauren in my life. She is so genuine, and I know if I ever need anything she is only a phone call away. Sharing these last two years together only makes me hopeful for the future. I am thankful for her continuous support in whatever I do, and more importantly for allowing me to be the third wheel on lunch or dinner dates with her and her boyfriend. I love seeing her love life and love others. Words do not do our friendship justice.

Being Greek has been one of the most positive experiences of college thus far. It has provided me with another family to have while I am away from mine at home. Between my Big and Little sister, I am spoiled with love and support. Sushi Dates. Relaxing at the Lake. Shopping. Advice & Words of Wisdom. They both have done it all. They each have taught me something new about myself and how to handle everything one day at a time.

Phi Mu opened its doors to me at the beginning of Freshman year, and the loving women I have been given the chance to call my sisters far exceed my expectations. Being on a college campus can be scary. There are so many students you will meet from numerous backgrounds with morals and values that differ from your own. Phi Mu gave me a place to completely be myself without fearing judgement. So far, some of my favorite memories relate back to this group of girls and the love and care they have given me. It has only been two years, but I am so excited to see what these next two years will be like and who I will get the chance to call my sister during that time. The people I have come in contact with, the opportunities I have been offered, the leadership qualities I have learned, and the endless support I have been shown is not enough to express what all being Greek has done for me.

I am thankful for the people God has sent me, and I see a new reason or learn a new lesson every day of why they are in my life and the role they play in my daily walk with Christ. I would not be the person I am today without the ones who have stood by me for so long. Be a blessing to others because you never know the relationship that can unfold from a simple conversation or a humble act of kindness. Share in God's love with those who mean the most. Appreciate the small things and allow those around you to help when it is offered. As always, have open hearts and listening ears because the Lord may be speaking to you through someone else.

With Love & Laughter,
Alison
